My Role
I started my career in the gaming industry in 2008, joining Rockstar Games straight out of university to work in localisation and QA. My time there allowed me to learn and understand fundamental game production pipelines and processes. I was given the opportunity to to contribute to some of the most iconic titles in gaming history, including Grand Theft Auto III, IV, and V, Max Payne 3, Red Dead Redemption, Bully and others.
My day to day role involved working on translation accuracy, functionality testing and conducting full art test passes. I also handled text file management, ensured compliance with console platform industry standards and provided playtesting feedback along with postmortem analysis.
I was part of a large team and we had tight deadlines and strict security protocols so it was challenging but rewarding. One of the highlights of my time at Rockstar was attending midnight launches for some of the games I worked on, it was an enjoyable experience to see players' excitement firsthand.
Overall, my experience at Rockstar gave me invaluable insight into AAA game development and greatly shaped my perspective on the industry.
